Oola Community Alert has been established for a number of years. There are new tools available to make this service work better for our community. The new Cairde app has been developed by Muintir na Tire to empower communities to communicate to take care of themselves and their friends and neighbours.
The Cairde app can be downloaded for free by Smartphone users. To be registered with Oola Community Alert, a €15 fee will be collected annually to support the administration of this service and the SMS fees associated with community text alerts. For those with older phones, you can continue to receive standard text alerts by registering your number with the Oola Community Alert Group
This is a great tool. But, as more neighbours and friends use the tool, the more valuable it becomes to connect, secure, and empower our community.
Step 1; Download the app on your Smartphone.
Step 2: Register your phone number with Oola Community Alert. A registration form must be completed and a payment of €15 will be collected. Please contact Aidan Kennedy or Denis Ryan for forms and payment
Step 4: Your number will be activated upon receipt of form and payment
During the month of November there will be a number of information sessions and sign-up events held to facilitate those who want to join the new community alert. we will have volunteers on hand to explain how the service works for those who want to avail of all the benefits of the App. Venues and dates will be confirmed shortly. The system will go live on November 1st.
